Evenings at St. Patrick

Sunday, 1/8 @ 6am
92.9 The Wave, ESPN Radio 94.1, Star 1310 and 97.3 The Eagle

Sunday's edition of Hampton Roads Topics will focus on Evenings at St. Patrick, an annual series of adult learning classes from St. Patrick Catholic School in Norfolk.  This year's catalog has 108 course offerings, including cooking, history, wine and beer, exercise and more.

My guests are Cathy Thaden and Robert Hitchings.  Thaden is offering two cooking classes this year.  One, entitled "Casserole Throw Down and Cornhole Tournament," is a combination cooking class/bar game.  Her classes tend to fill up quickly.

Hitchings, a librarian and historian, is offering two classes.  The first is a starter course in geneology.  The other, called "Scandals and Murders and Embezzlements!  Oh My!," deals with some of Norfolk's more unseemly history.  Hitchings describes how there were public hangings in the 1800's near where MacArthur Center now sits.  His enthusiasm for local history really comes through in the interview.

St. Patrick's classes cost $30.00 each.  For more information or to register for a class online, visit www.STPCS.org
